Guo Ba Rou with Dutch Twist 🧡🌶️🐷

Looking for a snack to celebrate Netherlands' victory? Well look no further!

Cooking Time: 20 minutes
Serves: 1 portion

Ingredients:

  • 200 g of Pork Loin (You can use chicken or Tofu)
  • Corn Starch
  • Chilli Chan’s Crispy Hot Honey
  • Frying Oil
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • Butter
  • Paprika flavoured potato chips
  • Toppings: Sesame Seeds and Spring Onions

Instructions:

  1. Cut the pork loin or your meat into bite-size strips.
  2. Season the pork loin with salt and pepper.
  3. To make the batter: Make a cornstarch slurry by adding 3-4 tablespoon of cornstarch with enough water to dissolve the cornstarch. DO NOT USE IMMEDIATELY. Wait until the starch settles down and separates from the water. Pour out the water, leaving the thick slurry of cornstarch.
  4. Add the pork loin strips to the corn starch, mix it until the pork is covered.
  5. Fry the battered pork loin until golden brown and crispy. Be careful of the hot oil.
  6. Set the pork loin aside to prepare the sauce.
  7. To make the sweet and spicy glaze, add in 1 tbsp of butter, 1-2 tsp of Chilli Chan's Crispy Hot Honey. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. Add in the fried pork and the Paprika potato chips.
  9. Mix all the ingredients in until the sauce and ingredients combine.
  10. Top with spring onions for fresh crunch and sesame seeds.

TIP ‼️

  • Traditionally, you have to fry this twice with potato starch. Skip that by adding potato chips to make it crispy with less effort. The potato chips and fried pork will have a glossy candy texture!
  • If you want to use tofu or vegetable alternative, dry it out first by salting it or patting it with a paper towel.
