Spicy and Crunchy Egg Tofu 🍮

Crispy and packed with umami! These Spicy and Crunchy Egg Tofu bites are golden on the outside and coated in a savory chili oil sauce that’s impossible to resist. Serve them over fluffy rice or our knife-cut noodles for the ultimate comforting meal.

Cooking time: 20–30 minutes
Serves: 1–2 people

Ingredient:

 

  • 1 tube silken egg tofu (from the Asian supermarket)
  • Cornstarch 
  • 2-3 spring onions 
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce 
  • 2 tbsp light soy sauce 
  • 2 tbsp Chilli Chan's crispy chilli oil 
  • Sesame oil
  • White rice or noodles, for serving

Instructions:

  1. Slice the spring onions and separate the white parts from the green parts.
  2. Cut the egg tofu into thick slices and coat each piece in a thick layer of cornstarch.
  3. Heat oil for deep frying, then fry the tofu pieces until golden and crispy. Remove and set aside.
  4. In a pan, sauté the minced garlic until fragrant, then add the white parts of the spring onions.
  5. Add 2 tbsp light soy sauce, 1 tbsp oyster sauce, and 2 tbsp chili oil and let it bubble for 1–2 minutes. Add in a dash of sesame oil. 
  6. Toss the crispy tofu into the pan until fully coated in the sauce.
  7. Serve over hot white rice or noodles, sprinkle with the green parts of the spring onions, and enjoy!
